Manuscript Assessment &
Substantial Editing
Are you wondering if your project is ready to go? Do you feel
that the concept is good, but the form is still rough? Send me
an article or chapter from your book. I'll review it and send
you an honest and informed analysis that addresses its style,
organization and structure, readabilitiy, and flow. My feedback
is thorough and specific, and if you like my suggestions, I'll
incorporate them and then copy edit the piece for you.
Copy Editing
Publishers and clients expect to receive a professional product
that's free of errors. Once your content is finalized, I'll scrutinize
your text for spelling errors, grammatical accuracy, and consistency
of style. I'll mark up the document using standard
editing symbols and will write improvement suggestions in
the margins. You can incorporate the changes yourself, or have
me produce the final copy.
Academic Editing
Grad school applicants often aren't English majors, so I take
the guesswork out of grammar and provide encouraging suggestions
for a paper's tone, theme, direction, and narrative. I've helped
many panicked students produce elegant, persuasive essays, applications,
and papers, even an award-winning thesis.
Proofreading
In its final stage before publication, I meticulously search your
document or Web site for any lingering errors and inconsistencies,
plus (if desired) HTML and link validation and cleanup. This step
is crucial for publications with high visibility. An independent
proofreader like me will spot embarrassing typos that are easily
overlooked by even the best writers.
